Should I Buy an Electric Truck?

A great way to save money (and the planet) is with an electric truck. Electric trucks are awesome because they don't emit any greenhouse gases, which can lead to global warming and climate change. They also produce less noise than their gasoline counterparts. And finally, you'll be able to get in on an exciting new technology trend before it becomes mainstream!

Here are 12 reasons why you should ditch the gas guzzler for an electric truck like the Ford Lightning.

1. The great thing about an electric truck is that it does not have nearly as many moving parts as a traditional vehicle. This means you are going to be able to save money on maintenance costs, since there are so few things that can break under normal circumstances. This drastically reduces the downtime of your truck if you’re using it for work. Less downtime? More money.

2. By buying an electric truck, you are helping the environment because you are no longer contributing to the emissions that come from traditional gas engines. If you do enough business, your electric truck will more than likely pay for itself in under five years, due to how much money it will save you over time on fuel costs and maintenance costs. Plus, when some hippy accuses you of destroying the environment, you can say it’s actually them that has the higher carbon footprint.

3. With an electric truck, you can travel further distances without having to stop and recharge. Electric truck batteries have been known to run more than miles on a single charge, so you don't have to worry about stopping every time you need to go somewhere. (The Ford Lightning is aiming for 230 miles.)

4. The reason there are so many components that can break on a traditional truck is that they are all made from metal. Metals are very heavy, and require a lot of energy to move around in comparison with the amount of energy it takes to power an electric motor. This means you don't have to worry about machines breaking down as often when you make the switch over to electric.

5. Another great thing about an electric truck is that they are much more ergonomic to drive, since there isn't as much noise or vibration coming from it like you would find in a traditional gas truck. This means fewer risks of developing health problems, which saves you even more money in the long run. Sitting for long periods of time is already bad enough. Go electric and make sure you don’t end up with back problems too.

6. Since the majority of electric truck companies are fairly new, they also tend to offer better warranties than what you would find with a gas company. Depending on which manufacturer you go with, an electric truck can have anywhere from one to six year warranties on their batteries, meaning it could potentially be the only thing that you have to pay for outside of general maintenance and fuel costs.

7. Since your electric truck doesn't need as many moving parts, it is way easier to fix than a traditional gas truck. This means that by having an electric truck made, you are saving yourself even more money down the line because you don't have to pay for as many repairs as you would with a traditional vehicle.

8. If you do any sort of business where you might need to transport items outside of your normal business hours, an electric truck is essential. Since most gas stations won't be open 24/7, that leaves you without any options if your battery fully dies and there isn't a charging station nearby. If this happens with an electric truck, all you have to do is plug it in at your destination and you will be up and running again before your customers even realize that something went wrong.

9. With an electric truck, you also don't have to worry about the exhaust fumes polluting the air around your home or business. Since there is no gas involved in the process, you don't have to deal with any carbon emissions coming out of the vehicle. So not only are you saving money on gas, but now your kids get to breathe cleaner air. Everybody wins.

10. The best electric truck manufacturers also have the latest technology available. Companies that focus on electric are looking towards the future. Electric vehicles will have newer and better features than traditional vehicles, because the manufacturers are trying to set themselves apart.

11. Electric trucks are extremely quiet, which means that they are much more pleasant to drive in when compared to gas powered trucks. Since they are also generally much lighter than traditional gasoline trucks, you will be able to save even more money on fuel costs.

12. When you buy an electric truck, you not only reduce your carbon footprint, but you also get to show your customers that you care about the environment just like they do. This is great for marketing purposes for growing your business and it can also help improve customer relations when word gets around about how eco-friendly your company really is.

Electric trucks are the future of transportation. They reduce maintenance costs, fuel consumption & carbon footprint. You might also qualify for credits and government subsidies by switching to an electric truck. It could be a lot cheaper to get started than you think.

Here are some electric trucks coming out in the near future

1. The Tesla Cybertruck

A new electric semi-truck from Tesla. The truck is powered by four independent Model 3 motors that produce 4 x 845 hp and 2 x 295 kWh battery packs. The Tesla Cybertruck, the company's first ever truck, has an impressive range of 250+ miles on a single charge and has a 7,500 towing capacity.

The exterior of the Model S-inspired vehicle is made out of an aluminum alloy which helps it to reduce weight by 2/3rds when compared to traditional diesel trucks. The truck's cabin is of similar styling to the Model S and X, featuring a dash that runs into the same large touchscreen system as Tesla cars.

2. The Lordstown Endurance

The Lordstown Endurance electric truck has a towing capacity of 8,000 pounds. The truck is designed for short-haul routes and will soon be tested by UPS. It has a top speed of 80mph and can travel 250 miles on one full charge.

While initially hoping to start shipping trucks in 2021, full production was pushed back to 2022.

3. The Ford Lightning

The 2022 Ford Lightning has two electric motors instead of one which are both equipped with lithium-ion batteries. This makes the Lightning capable of 60mph in less than four seconds.

Ford claims that the truck has a range of 230 miles on one full charge even while towing its maximum payload. The batteries can be recharged overnight using Ford's plug-in station for $5 in the US, which charges the battery 80% in 90 minutes. This is great considering Ford promises two hours of service for every 15 minutes of charge time.
